John H. Glanville is the Managing Director of Athenaeum Capital Partners, an evergreen early stage technology investment fund operating and with investments in Southern California. John manages fund raising, due diligence, investment, board, and exit responsibilities for multiple investments during a twenty-five-year investment period. The current portfolio mix focuses on sustainable impact investing including renewable energy, agriculture, and environment. In addition, John serves as General Manager of Benchmark Maps, a leading publisher of road and recreation atlases and maps.
John has a long history of founding and growing organizations, both for profit and not for profit. These include Sustainable Change Alliance (impact investing), Social Venture Partners (chapters in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara), Pasadena Angels, Tech Coast Angels ACE Funds, and the Los Angeles Business Technology Center. John serves of the Advisory Board for UCSB College of Engineering, a mentor for the UCSB Technology Management Program, and has been involved with numerous entrepreneurship programs as a mentor at Caltech, Art Center College of Design, Harvey Mudd, Lehigh, UT Austin, Keck Graduate School, USC, UCLA, and other universities and programs.
John has served Lehigh University in various roles including service on the Board of Trustees (2004 to 2010), College of Arts & Sciences Advisory Board, Global Lehigh Committee of the Board of Trustees, and Lehigh Leadership Council.
John has extensive non-profit leadership experience serving in a variety of officer, board, committee, and operational roles with Shelterbox USA, Rotary (Pasadena, Montecito, Goleta Clubs), the Caltech Associates, Caltech SURF, Pasadena Symphony, A Noise Within Theatre Company, and Sustainable Change Alliance Foundation.
Prior to his investment and coaching careers, John worked for fifteen years as a construction manager for Turner Construction in Texas and Connecticut, and for five years as a construction manager for California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California.
John earned his BA degree in Fine Arts/Architecture from Lehigh University and his MS degree in Civil Engineering/Project Management from University of Texas at Austin. John earned his coaching certificate from Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara.
John is married with one son, four Labradors, and resides outside of Santa Barbara, California.
