Peer Scholars are upper-class students trained under the Mentor Collective and by the CAS Advising Center to assist students in navigating academic processes and student life at Lehigh. Peer Scholars work closely with our Mentor Advisors to ensure our first-year students have a successful first year on campus.
Peer Scholars can demonstrate various systems such as:
- Student Portal
- Student Banner
- Degree Audit
- Registration Tools, including "Plan Ahead" tool, Browse classes, Browse catalog, Register for courses
Peer Scholars act as a resource for academic "how to's", such as how to:
- Handle registration errors
- Apply for a credit overload
- Declare a major or minor
- Use tutoring resources
- Navigate campus life
- Locate and utilize departments and resources on campus
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with one advising center event per semester
- Spend 1-2 hours per week in the Advising Center, offering drop-in hours for students
- Participate in Peer Scholar training
- Meet your first-year student group and follow up with them throughout the semester
